One mobile experience on Android and iOS

SchoolMeridian provides Android and iOS versions with a shared interface and the same core workflows. Use this guide for server setup, staff access, dashboards, timetables and assessments on either platform. The screenshots were captured on Android and illustrate the shared app screens; device installation and system permission prompts differ.

Android

An APK is the Android installation package. Find the current SchoolMeridian Android APK in the website’s software releases or obtain the approved release from your school administrator.

iPhone & iPad

Use the SchoolMeridian iOS version on iPhone or iPad to access the same school connection, staff workspace, timetable and assessment workflows. Obtain the school-approved iOS installation link and setup instructions from Seyaro Systems or your school administrator.

After installing the iOS app, follow the shared instructions below: connect to your school server, choose your portal and sign in with your approved account. Available tools are determined by your school configuration and assigned role on both platforms.

Install and prepare

Have your school server address, the correct network connection and your staff details ready. Your administrator can confirm device requirements, the approved version and whether remote access is enabled.

  1. Choose your platform. For Android, find the SchoolMeridian APK in the current software releases. For iPhone or iPad, obtain the approved iOS installation link from Seyaro Systems or your school. Use the release and installation method supplied for your device.
  2. Install on Android. Open the downloaded APK and follow the device’s installation prompts. If Android asks for permission to install from the browser or file manager, review that prompt for this download. Installation wording varies by device.
  3. Install on iPhone or iPad. Open the iOS installation link supplied by your school or Seyaro Systems and follow the accompanying installation instructions. Allow local network access if iOS prompts you when connecting to your school server. The Android APK is a separate package and is not used for iOS installation.
  4. Open SchoolMeridian on either platform. Select your school server and portal. A successful installation still needs a reachable school server and an approved account to access staff information.
  5. Keep the app current. Use the release approved by your school. Before updating, save any current work and check the release notes or administrator’s instructions.
Local network or remote access?

A local connection uses the school’s network and a running school server; it can operate without an internet connection when that deployment supports it. Access away from school requires a reachable remote service and the school’s connection details. Do not assume that an off-site phone can reach a local server address or that changes can be saved while disconnected.

WORKFLOW 01

Connect to your school

On Android and iOS, the app needs the correct school workspace before you sign in. Your school administrator supplies the server address and tells you whether to use the school network or a remote connection.

  1. Open the app and choose the server connection screen. For an on-site connection, join the school Wi-Fi used by the server.
  2. Choose Local and refresh the available servers. Select your school server when it appears. If discovery does not find it, enter the complete address supplied by your administrator, including its port when provided.
  3. For access away from school, choose Remote and use the address provided for remote access. A local network address is normally reachable only on that school network.
  4. Select the saved server on later visits. If the app says the saved connection is not verified, reconnect to the correct network and refresh or confirm the address with your administrator.

WORKFLOW 02

Create and access your staff account

Staff access starts with an existing school staff record. Account creation requests access; the school administrator reviews the department, role and account before access is granted.

  1. Choose Staff Portal. Existing approved users can enter their username and password; new staff should choose Sign up.
  2. On the verification screen, enter the staff number and telephone recorded by the school. If verification fails, ask the administrator to check the staff record and contact details.
  3. After verification, choose the requested department and role, check the academic period, and create your username and password.
  4. Submit for Approval and wait for the school administrator to review the request. A submitted or pending message is confirmation of a request, rather than confirmation of access.
  5. Return to sign-in after approval. Verify the account where prompted and continue with the assigned department and role. If access is still pending, contact the school administrator. Use Forgot Password if you cannot recall your credentials.

WORKFLOW 03

Find your daily work

The staff dashboard brings school information, lesson planning shortcuts and teaching tasks into one mobile workspace. The tools you can use depend on your approved role and the school configuration.

  1. Start with the dashboard overview: check the displayed term, your classes, today’s lessons, pending tasks and attendance shortcuts.
  2. Use Quick Actions to open the timetable, lesson attendance, allocations or class list. Additional actions shown include room booking, substitutions, mark entry, papers and components, assessment reports and optional subjects.
  3. Scroll to Today’s Schedule to review the time, class and room for each lesson. If a room has not been assigned, confirm the arrangement with your school.
  4. Use the bottom navigation to move between Home, Timetable, Classes, Notifications and More. If an expected tool or class is missing, confirm your staff allocation and permissions with the administrator.

Read your teaching timetable

The timetable provides a day-by-day view of your scheduled periods. Use it to plan where you need to be and which class you are teaching during the selected academic week.

  1. Open Timetable from the dashboard or the bottom navigation.
  2. Check the displayed week and date, then use the arrows to move between weeks. Select a weekday to view its periods.
  3. Read each lesson card for the subject, class, stream and room information. Empty periods indicate that no lesson is shown for that slot.
  4. If the schedule looks wrong, check the selected week and your school’s current term before requesting a timetable or staff-allocation correction.

Configure assessments and enter marks

Assessment tools connect subject papers, assessment components and student mark entry. Confirm the academic period, subject and class before making changes, and use the tools available to your approved role.

  1. Open Papers & Components to review the subject configuration. Select the paper and assessment component, and check the maximum score and whether the component is active before entering marks.
  2. In Mark Entry, select the academic context and class, then choose the paper and component. Use Edit filters if the displayed subject or class is incorrect.
  3. Find a student with the search field and enter the mark in the corresponding row. Review the Scored, Missed and Missing totals to find incomplete entries; the Missing only option helps focus the list.
  4. Check the Autosave setting and any save feedback. Use the displayed Save action when needed, and confirm that the marks were saved before leaving the screen.
  5. Open Mark actions to review validation, undo/redo, selection, clipboard and import/export tools. Check the expected file columns before importing records, then validate the resulting marks and review missing or cleared entries.

Troubleshooting and common questions

The school server does not appear

Confirm that the phone is connected to the correct school network and that the school server is running. Refresh the server list. On iPhone or iPad, check that SchoolMeridian has local network permission in device settings if you are connecting on school Wi-Fi. If automatic discovery still fails, use the complete address supplied by the administrator. For off-site access, confirm the remote address and that remote access is available.

My staff identity cannot be verified

Check your staff number and telephone against the school’s staff records. Ask the administrator to correct missing or outdated information, then retry verification. Creating a username alone does not create the underlying staff record.

My signup is waiting for approval

Your request needs administrator review. Ask the school to confirm your department, role and requested academic period. Return to sign-in once the account is approved; resubmitting the same request does not grant access.

I can sign in, but a class or tool is missing

Check the current term, class filters and assigned department or role. Staff allocations and permissions determine the workspaces you can access. Ask your administrator to review the assignment if it is incorrect.

Marks look incomplete or changes have not saved

Check the selected class, paper and component, and review the Missing count. Confirm the connection, Autosave setting and save feedback. Use the available Save action and verify the updated entries before leaving the screen.

Are student and parent portals included in this guide?

The portal selection screen shows Student, Staff and Parent options. The supplied screenshots document staff workflows in detail. Ask your school for student or parent account setup and the features enabled for those portals.

How do I get the app on my iPhone or iPad?

Request the approved SchoolMeridian iOS installation link from Seyaro Systems or your school administrator. Install the iOS version, then use this guide to connect to your school and access the shared mobile workflows. Android uses an APK; iOS uses its own installation package and distribution method.

Do Android and iOS use the same screens?

Yes. The mobile versions share the app interface and core workflows described here. School connection, staff verification, account approval, dashboards, timetables and assessment tasks follow the same sequence. Installation, system permission prompts and some device styling vary by platform.
